How to Clean Your Bed Liner

A bed liner helps to protect the inner side of your truck bed from damages. However, these liners have a tendency of trapping dirt and debris even when you don’t use them regularly. If you want to keep your vehicle nice and clean, you need to keep your bed liner in an excellent condition and clean it often.

The following is a guide to help you clean your truck bed liner.

Sweep dirt from the liner

Sweep out any dirt or debris using a simple push broom before you spray water on your bed liner to make the cleaning process easier. You can use a small hand brush if you want to get into small spaces and cracks.

Spray the bed liner

At this point, use a water sprayer to clean your liner. A pressure washer can be used to remove dirt from the corners of the bed liner. Use a broom when you are cleaning your liner to drive water and dirt out of the truck or point the water sprayer in a direction such that everything streams out the back of your truck. If you are cleaning your liner outside the truck, you can dump water on the liner to help clean-out the dirt along with the water

Wash the bed Altogether

Once you have dirt washed out, use a cleaner to wash your bed liner. You can use a simple car washing soap or household detergents, but make sure that they don’t contain chemicals that are harmful to your bed-liner. For example, Durabak recommends to use Spic n Span on their bed-liners, and to stay clear of chlorinated cleaners. Apply the soap to the bed liner and use a stiff bristle deck brush to scrub away tough stains from the liners’ surface.

Rinse and dry the liner

Use the pressure washer or water spray to rinse off the liner. Make sure all corners of your bed liner are well taken care of. You will notice that your liner is beginning to shine after the rinsing.

Once everything is washed and clean, place it outside in the sun to dry. You can use a dry cloth to wipe the wet liner as an alternative. Make sure that the bed liner is dry to avoid mildew or other fungal growth on your truck bed.

Conclusion

This guide is a great approach to help you keep your truck bed sparkling clean. However, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to cleaning your bed liner. So definitely reach out to your bed-liner manufacturer, and find out from them the specific product care required to keep your bed looking like new.
